Welcome to Ash Class! Our teacher is Miss Fox and our Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Head. Our time in Reception has prepared us well for Year 1. We will continue to challenge ourselves, by reading exciting books to help us with our learning; practice and build on our phonics so that we can read and write more independently; and, continue to work hard on our number formation, number bonds to 20, addition and subtraction. By the end of the year, we aim to be able to write numbers in order to 100 and be able to count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
We are excited about our topic themes this year. In the Autumn term we look at wild weather in the UK and around the world, and investigate time lines by chronologically placing celebrations through history. In the spring term we will be learning about significant people who have endeavoured to achieve goals, including explorers such as James Cook, Robert Scott and Amelia Earhart. In the summer term we will be looking at humans and other animals through science work, and beginning to think about how plants grow well.
On top of all of this, we have some really exciting visits to look forward to which link directly to different areas of our curriculum. We will visit Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, Daws Hall nature reserve, and various sites of interest around Sudbury.
Please feel free to come and talk if you ever have any questions, or you could get in touch via Class Dojo.
